This year I set some pretty aggressive writing goals. I think it’s important to set lofty goals and then do everything possible to reach them. I wrote about this concept back in June in this post.
Today I’m going to celebrate a little. Just as it’s important to set hard-to-reach goals, it’s also important to enjoy every little victory. Among the goals set for this year, I planned to complete four new novels.
I’ve managed to complete two of them, and even add in a few other extras.
- I attended Emerald City Comicon and helped with the Wordfire Press booth. Lots of fun, great time spent with excellent people, including my daughter who came with me, and learned a ton about running a successful booth..
- In June, I completed a solid first draft of the sequel to my YA novel, Set In Stone. The title is still a work in progress, but I’m very pleased with the story, that ended up at 166,000 words.
- In July I wrote the first draft of book 1 of my Facetaker trilogy. I completed the 78,000 word novel in three weeks. These novels are sequel to Saving Face.
- I also managed to write a light-hearted short story that I will be submitting in the coming weeks to a couple different markets. I had hoped to include it in the Purple Unicorn Anthology, One Horn to Rule Them All being published by Wordfire Press, but it did not make the cut. Definitely recommend people check out the anthology. Lots of great authors in that one.
- I have also nearly completed the process of preparing my novella Saving Face for paperback release through Createspace. Just a few final edits to the cover and it will be ready to go.
So lots to celebrate and plenty of additional goals to focus on. In addition to completing the other two novels in the Facetaker trilogy, I am working with two different editors on edits of six novels. I am working with the same artist who painted the cover for Saving Face on covers for those books. All of those efforts will be culminating in a big ebook release cycle starting at the end of the year.
The goal is to release 8 books in 8 months! (#8books8months)
More details to follow.
