Anatomy of a Successful Book Launch

The traffic was steady enough to keep us busy all five hours of the launch.  I talked with many people about the book, answered tons of questions, signed quite a few copies, and had enough time to come around the desk and greet friends.  My kids acted as my assistants, handling sales and helping make sure I remembered to sign the books and number them.  I did a reading and had about forty people in attendance for that.  We had scheduled to hold the launch from 4 PM to 8 PM, but didn’t leave until almost 9:30.  It was exhilarating and exhausting all at the same time.

Next week, I’ll post a second chapter to this, discussing some of the take-aways from the experience.
