Just returned from Seattle and the Emerald City Comicon. What a fun event!
I was there to sell books with the awesome folks at Wordfire Press. And we sold a lot of books.
Set in Stone proved so popular that I sold out by Saturday. Wish I had brought at least ten more copies. Memory Hunter came in a strong second.
A Stone’s Throw suffered like most second books – people decided to wait until they purchased the first one. So next year, I’m expecting strong sales.
I even sold copies of Saving Face, even though we weren’t pushing that prequel.
So yes, book sales were strong. One of the great things about working with the other authors at the Wordfire booth -and there were a lot of authors there – is that we all cross-promoted and sold each others’ books extremely well. I’ve never participated in a group that worked so hard to sell other people’s books. It made it fun and everyone benefited.
Check out these photos of the group at the booth, along with some of the cool characters who came by to pay us a visit
My wife, Jenny, joined me at this con, and we managed to take some time to explore the hall. There were so many cool products, great artists, and fun things to see. One of our favorites were the guys from Weta Workshop in New Zealand – yes, the ones who did the props and costumes for The Lord of the Rings!
Jenny bought a pair of elf ears from them, and they took half an hour applying them and turning her into an elf, just like they did for the actors. It was so much fun. They turned one of their guys into an orc, and he looked incredible. Check out photos of all of that, plus other cool characters we ran into:
If you’ve never been to a comicon, I highly recommend it. So many people, so much energy, and so much fun nerdiness all in one place. It’s hard to beat.
I’ll be there next year.
