SLC Comicon – Have You Bought a Ticket Yet?

SLC Comicon

There are LOTS of Comicons out there these days. They seem to be spawning faster than a herd of rabbits, and I love how accessible they are now. One of the big ones is the SLC Comicon, and I’m going this week.

If you’ve never been to a comicon, what are you waiting for? They’re huge fan events that not only feature film stars and authors, rows upon rows of vendors with products you can’t easily find anywhere else, and tons of panels and presentations to meet just about any taste or interest, but thousands of people dress up in fantastic costumes.

Here are a few snapshots of what you can see (from the Emerald City Comicon earlier this year):

I’ll be in Salt Lake City this week for the comicon, Thursday through Saturday. Come join the fun! I’ll be at the Wordfire Press booth with a bunch of other authors. Stop by and say “Hello” and check out all the great books.

I am also participating in three panels, one each day:

SLCCC Supervillains

Thursday, 6 PM, Room 255B: Everything I Need to Know About Life, I Learned from Supervillains

This should be a really interesting panel. The great lineup of panelists includes:

Moderator Alexi Vandenberg, the marketing guru behind Rabid Fanboy

Epic fantasy author, Sam Sykes

Artist and author Aneeka Richins

Author Valynne E. Maetani

Horror writer Michaelbrent Collings

and Thomas Carter.

SLCCC Google SearchesFriday, Noon, Room 255B: How to Clean Blood From a Trunk and Other Writerly Google Searches

This panel is going to be a blast. I know I’ve got tons of really bizarre Google searches I’ve done. I’m expecting a lot of other great stories from panelists:

Author and musician Craig Nybo, who will be moderating the panel

Author Shannen Camp

Horror writer Michaelbrent Collings

Author Angela Corbett

Author Shallee McArthur

And comic and TV writer Doug Wagner.

Finally, on Saturday, 1 PM, Room 253A: Build-A-Story: Professional Authors Create a Story From Scratch

SLCCC Build-a-story

I’m really looking forward to this one. I’m a storyteller at heart, and I love making up stories on the fly, so I think this panel should be very entertaining. It will be pure story with panelists:

Author Dan Willis (moderator)

Author Bob Defendi

Bryce Moore

Author Josi Russell

Artist Richard Lance Russell

and Epic fantasy author, Sam Sykes.

Some panel events do change, so make sure to check the updated schedule on the comicon app, or at: http://saltlakecomiccon.com/2016-slcc-panel-schedule/

I hope to see you there!
