First post in a while, but not because I’ve been sleeping. This summer has been amazing and super busy, chock full of work and family and even some vacation time. September is already here, bringing with it school and maybe a regular schedule again. Despite all the distractions, I accomplished a lot this summer. Here’s a quick recap:

Petralist Book 5 – Rough Draft is Finished! Affinity for War – Physical copies have arrived! When Torcs Fly – Physical copies have arrived! A Stone’s Throw – Audiobook is nearly finished! Rose City Comicon – Had a fantastic event and will be posting about it this week.

First – Petralist book 5!

Well, the first draft is done, anyway. And what an incredible book it’s shaping up to be! I wasn’t sure anything could top Affinity for War, but this one pulls it off. It’s even more epic, delves into Obrioner history, explores deeper foundations of the magic, and pits our heroes against even deadlier dangers. And yet, somehow they keep their sense of humor and cling to those values they cherish most.

The book topped out at 222,000 words.

Current working title: “The Queen’s Quarry”. It’s pretty good, although for a while I was partial to “Grumpy Old Ladies”.

The draft is in the hands of my editor and a couple of my alpha readers. If all my stars align, edits will go quick, and I’ll have it available to you by Christmas.

August was like Christmas! Got the paperback copies of When Torcs Fly in the mail too.

I love this hilarious little book! So fun to have it in physical form.

A Stone’s Throw audiobook is nearly complete!

I’m so thrilled by how well this audiobook is turning out! If you haven’t picked up a copy of Set in Stone audiobook yet, you’re missing out. Joshua Story does an amazing job bringing the world of the Petralists to life.

This new audiobook should be out in the new few weeks. We’re editing the finished chapters now.

Also, just attended Rose City Comicon. Brought the entire family. We had the biggest booth set-up I’ve ever done. It turned out great, and we all had a ton of fun meeting fans and selling boxes full of books! As you can see in the photo, we were already getting low on Set in Stone and Memory Hunter when we took this photo.
