Yesterday we held the first-ever Story Squad Chat, and it was fantastic.
I’m hoping to develop these quarterly calls focusing on the craft and business of writing into a valuable tool for new and experienced writers both. This week’s discussion about story structure was the perfect way to start.
Kevin Ikenberry was our guest author. He’s not only a great writer, but also an expert on story structure. He shared tons of excellent advice and insights.
Here’s the recording of our call. The actual call starts at about the 3:30 mark. Prior to that, we’re still chatting pre-call. It’s interesting stuff so feel free to listen to it all.

During the call, we discussed several recommended resources regarding story structure. Here are the links:
Larry Brooks at Storyfix.com also often does story deconstructions, analyzing movies to show the underlying structure. Here is a link to a recent story deconstruction he did for the movie 47 Meters Down.
