Writing Retreat – Day 3

I got started late.

After finally getting to sleep after 5 AM, I slept in until after 10 AM.  I felt tired, my legs hurt from the unfamiliar beach run the day before, and had a hard time getting rolling and into the zone.  I worried I would not accomplish much.

However, it was raining steady all day so I had no temptation to go outside, and few distractions.  So I pretty much just sat down and wrote straight for six hours.

I was more than a little surprised by how well that worked.  By 5:30 PM, I completed 12,000 words.  That was my best words-per-hour average of the week.  I rarely reach 2000 words/hour, especially not for six hours straight.

After dinner, I even watched a movie and caught up on some items from work that came up during the day.  I had hoped to do some more writing in the evening, but I was just too tired and went to bed.

Still, after these first 3 days, I was sitting at 30,000 new words written.  Not bad at all.
