This month I completed the first draft of my new YA fantasy novel, Set In Stone.
Connor is a young man in a repressive country where anyone gifted with magic is Taken and enslaved by the nobility. When his village is captured by an invading enemy force, battle lines are drawn and in the escalating conflict, everyone he knows is about to be killed. Connor is caught up in the conflict and discovers that nothing is as it seems. Only he can avert disaster, but if he reveals his powers to save his family and village, his life will be forfeit.
I am planning on directly e-publishing this novel in the near future, and will be detailing the process of taking a new work of fiction from the draft phase to the e-published final product here on this blog. I am thrilled with the book and both nervous and excited about the opportunity to join the e-publishing revolution.
To celebrate the book’s completion, I am posting the opening scenes (prologue and chapter one). I hope you enjoy it.
